Wondering about the developments since the official opening of IRCAD Africa in Kigali, Rwanda? Significant activities and advancements have been taking place within this dynamic training and research institute.
This educational facility at the heart of Kigali’s emerging health hub in Masaka commenced its course offerings on Monday, October 2nd, 2023. Before its official opening, it had already successfully hosted over 60 experts and participants from 21 countries, for a weeklong (2nd -6th October 2023) ‘Laparoscopic General Surgery’ course, affirming the center’s role in advancing surgical training.
From October 20th to 21st, 2023, IRCAD Africa conducted two additional courses: the Wrist Arthroscopy and Wrist Surgery, as well as the Laparoscopic Urological Surgery Course, which took place from November 6th to 10th, 2023.
From various courses on the 2024 calendar, Advanced Techniques in Laparoscopic Gynecologic Surgery course was also offered by IRCAD Africa on January 10-12, 2024. This course offers fundamental skills essential for making significant advancements in clinical laparoscopic practice.
Establishing the IRCAD Africa center in Rwanda is in line with the Government’s National Strategy for Health Professions Development (NSHPD), that aims at ensuring availability of a qualified, competent, and equitably distributed health workforce, which in return contributes to increasing the access to high-quality services.
